Launch of CymruX - Young Plaid Cymru - Although CymruX's youth organisers are both a bit tired after the Conference and the launch of CymruX there's no let up in the work as we continue to prepare for the freshers fayres, our first conference, and more social events of course...! The Launch of CymruX young Plaid Cymru was a great success with a great meeting on Thursday 15 September.

Meeting in 'Y Galeri' - During the National Eisteddfod this year, 20 young members of Plaid Cymru - The Party of Wales came together in 'Y Galeri' in Caernarfon to discuss the party's new youth movement, with the intention of deciding on image, structure, main campaigns and objectives for the movement. The main purpose of holding such a meeting was to get the young people to share their ideas about what kind of a movement was needed, and what kind of movement would give young people the extra push to act politically.

Wales Social Forum's first ever events 1/5/06 - Members of Cymru X at the Wales Social Forum Rally with Leanne Wood Plaid AM. On Monday the 1st of May members of Cymru X took part in the Wales Social Forum rally. The rally marched through the town of Aberystwyth uniting groups from all over Wales- peace groups,environment groups, justice,and international based campaign groups.

Cymru X in Brussels 10/05/06 - Cymru X in EFA Youth Conference. This week, members of Cymru X will be attending EFA Youth's Conference ( European Free Alliance)- the Alliance that Plaid Cymru is affiliated to in the European Parliament. There will be over 60 young people present at the Conference from different countries and regions, including members from the Ukraine, Macedonia and Bulgaria.

Cymru X at the European Parliament - Members of Cymru X with the Plaid Cymru delegation in Brussels. On the 10th and 11th of May members of Cymru X went to Brussels for the EFA Youth Conference. The Conference was a great success, with delegates discussing EFA's Youth Manifesto as well as campaign ideas for the youth movements involved in EFA.

Montenegro choose independence - Montenegro has voted for independence from Serbia. The results of this historic referendum was reseased on Monday (22 May 2006). CymruX congratulate the people of Montenegro on their peaceful and democratic decision, and hope that the country will join the other nations of the world, as a peaceful, fair and democratic nation.

X-Change Essay Competition...' Does Democracy need elections?' - Take part in the competition....a chance to win £250! The Electoral Reform Society X Change has launched an essay competition inviting young people to have their say in the debate about making democracy more modern. A large percentage of young people do not vote in elections at all because they do not feel part of the political process.

Cymru X raises £460 for Shelter Cymru - Darren Price presenting a cheque on behalf of Cymru X to Andrew James from Shelter Cymru. Members of Cymru X walked from Kidwelly to Swansea to raise money for Shelter Cymru as part of the Affordable Housing campaign. Dr Dai Lloyd Assembly Member and AM Rhodri Glyn Thomas also came on the walk. Thank you to everyone who took part and who helped to raise the money.

Keep Ysgol Rhydfelen's name! - Cymru X support the staff and pupils wishes at Ysgol Rhydfelen to retain the school's name. Ysgol Gyfun Rhydfelen in Pontypridd is moving to a new building very soon as part of a new community complex in Gartholwg. However, in light of this move, the Labour run Council has proposed that the school changes its name also.

Why won't Brian Gibbons meet CymruX? - Cymru X's new Executive Committee wrote to Brian Gibbons AM, Labour Health Minister in October 2005 requesting a meeting about the high rates of sexually transmitted diseases in Wales, but Brian Gibbons has failed to answer after 8 months! This is totally unacceptable given how important the issue of safe sex is to young people.Why won't Brian Gibbons answer a Youth Movement who is campaigning on this important issue?

Cymru X's youngest member with Leanne Wood AM - Rebecca James is Cymru X's youngest member. Rebecca James comes from the Rhondda, and she is CymruX's youngest ever member. She joined with Cymru X when she came over to our stall at Party Ponty.

Wales Wide Walk - Plaid leader Ieuan Wyn Jones will embark on a Wales Wide Walk ( Friday 28/7/06) as part of the party’s What Wales Wants programme of engagement in the lead up to next years Assembly elections. The walk will consist of seven legs, beginning in Anglesey and culminating in the National Eisteddfod in Swansea on Monday the 7th of August.

Cymru X Eisteddfod Protest against nuclear arms - Members of Cymru X protested at the Eisteddfod to draw attention to our opposition to New Labour's unprincipled support to the development of nuclear arms. Members of Cymru X wore nuclear suits and held mock nuclear arms to draw attention to the cause against trident. Adam Price MP, Jill Evans MEP and Ray Davies from CND Cymru spoke at the protest. We visited every Political Party's stall bar Plaid Cymru at the Eisteddfod due to the fact that they all support trident.This is unnacceptable.

Members of Cymru X meet with BMA Wales - Bethan Jenkins, Anthony Richards and Nerys Evans of Cymru X met with BMA's Welsh Secretary Richard Lewis and John Jenkins. They met to discuss Cymru X's health policies and to discuss working with BMA Wales on future initiatives.
