Date: 1-June-2006

On Saturday the 3rdof June, Bethan Jenkins, Cymru X Organiser will be speaking in a rally against the Iraq war in Cardiff. The protest will start at 1.30pm outside the new Army Recruitment Centre, and the organisers of the rally are Cardiff Students against the War.

Bethan Jenkins, Cymru X Organiser said:

‘Cardiff Students Against the war have initiated this important protest to draw attention to the fact that the war in Iraq is illegal, and that it is about time that Tony Blair removes troops from Iraq. This week alone, two welsh soldiers have died in Iraq, and innocent Iraqis are dying daily. This cannot go on.”

 Bethan Jenkins added:

"Young people were the most active group of people against the war from the outset, yet New Labour does not listen to our concerns. The fact that this protest is now taking place is a symbol of the fact that young people are active politically, and want to play a positive role in the poltical processes. The protest in being held outside the Army Recruitment Centre so as to highlight our opposition to the way in which the Government is sending more troops to Iraq. Ann Clwyd MP and others involved in decision making processes in this area should listen to our opinions as opposed to placing more and more resources in to an illegal war.’
