Bethan Jenkins, Cymru X Organiser has been invited to speak at a Climate Change march to be held in Cardiff on Saturday the 22nd of April. The march, taking place on Earth Day has been organised by the Cardiff campaign against Climate Change in a bid to raise awareness about the growing concerns of climate change and the lack of Labour Government action in tackling such problems head on.
Bethan Jenkins said:
“I’m pleased to be given the opportunity to speak at the Climate Change March. After nearly 10 years of New Labour it is an absolute disgrace that carbon emissions have increased. Faced with this terrible record, it seems that New Labour are intent on building more nuclear power stations regardless of reports stating that it is neither environmentally safe or economically viable. Taxpayers already face an estimated bill of £80bn to deal with our existing nuclear legacy.”
Bethan will say at the march on saturday:
"Westminster’s Parliamentary Committee on Environmental Audit has this week released a report criticising New Labour for being too focused on nuclear, and failing to show leadership on renewable energy efficiency. The report also says that Nuclear power plants will take too long to build; will require substantial amounts of government subsidies; and may cut carbon emissions less than expected.”
“Wales is a country rich in natural resources and we must make the most of these and other technologies such as clean coal and micro generation if we are serious about creating a sustainable future for our country.”
